I would like to start by wishing all mothers everywhere a very happy Mother’s Day filled with love, appreciation and happiness. I think that like me, most mothers really just want to spend time with their children and get some kisses and hugs. But Moms also deserve some extra attention and nice gifts on their special day, which is now right around the corner.
One of the things that I wanted to do when I started this blog was bring attention to businesses that were a little different. Businesses that are female founded or operated (like mine), businesses that carry a powerful positive social message and businesses that are concerned with the well-being of the planet. Don’t get me wrong, I can Amazon blitz shop with the best of them, but I think it is important to bring to light and support some of these types of businesses. I thought it would be neat to make a Mother’s Day gift list highlighting some of the really stellar companies that I have discovered and have ordered from myself. Here are some of the ideas (with links for easy shopping) that I came up with!

Hot Mama Beach Mother’s Day Gifts:
Take a cool beach bag and fill it with all kinds of essentials for a day at the beach.  Here’s a couple of things that would be great to add in it!

Allies of Skin New Self Tanner
Help Mom get beach ready with this self-tanner from Allies of Skin. This self-tanner is special for several reasons. This is one of the companies I am impressed with because of their powerful, positive social message. The company has a mission to make everyone feel good in their own skin. This company donates a percentage of its sales every year to non-profits that raise awareness about things like depression, fighting teen suicide, and promoting self-worth. I think moms would love any gift from this company, but the self-tanner is fantastic.  I especially love it because it has sunscreen in it as well as vitamins and other ingredients that make your skin feel great.  Check it out with this link:

Really Good Sunscreen to Protect Her Face
Isdin has some excellent sunscreen products. I love this sunscreen for your face, and Isdin is a very earth friendly company, with their BlueWave program. Isdin is devoted to rejuvenating the Mediterranean Sea. In addition, they are a cruelty free company that does no animal testing. Check out the website and read about their efforts and wonderful products!
Dreamy Brunch Sunday Mother’s Day Gift:

This beautiful outfit from Orolay would be perfect for Mom to wear, to a Mother’s Day Sunday Brunch. Orolay is another company that I really like. Their clothes are very well made and their fabrics are very high quality, while maintaining reasonable prices.  This company is highly committed to doing the right things for our planet.  They use fabrics that are renewable, recyclable, highly degradable and animal friendly. They are certified as a brand under the Responsible Down Standard, which means that they do no harm to any live animals or birds, and they prohibit the removal of any feathers or down from live birds. I have several pieces from Orolay, I will note that the sizes run slightly small, so order accordingly.  Here is a link if you would like to look:

The Everybody REALLY Needs Some REALLY Good Chocolates Sometimes Mothers Day Gift!
We don’t need to eat candy all the time, but once in a while, a girl needs some chocolates, and if you are going to splurge you might as well get the best! andSons Chocolates are just that. This company is one that I like for many reasons. It was founded by a female and is now run by her two sons. Their quality and customer service is excellent, and during the L.A. Fires, they raised over $30,000 for wildlife relief. The artwork on their boxes is stunning as are the content of the boxes. Right now, they have some absolutely beautiful collections for Mother’s Day. If you would like to see what they have, here is the link:

Moms Need a Great Night’s Sleep Mother’s Day Gift:
Sometimes a good night’s sleep can be priceless, but it is often one thing that women over 50 struggle with. Hot flashes, night sweats, mood disorders all can disturb sleep patterns. One thing that can make a difference is the right bedding. Ethical Bedding is a great source for sheets and bedding designed to keep you the ideal temperature all night. The sheets are made from 100% Eucalyptus fibers that wick moisture away from the body. They are breathable, hypoallergenic and super soft and comfy. I like the fact that this company is highly committed to being kind to the planet from the materials they use to manufacturing and then shipping.  They have an entire line of sheets and bedding designed for menopausal customers. They also have all natural sleep supplements powered by adaptogens. I think a gift package with goods from Ethical Bedding would make a wonderful gift.  This is the link to check them out:
These were just a few ideas that I have found for Mother’s Day Gifts from some of the really neat companies I have come across since doing the blog. I hope that you enjoyed reading about them and I wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day!
